Frequently asked questions

General answers. For advice about your situation, contact us for a free review.

Does it cost anything to talk with you?

No. Consultations are free, and there is no fee unless we win.

Do I have to use the insurer's contractor or adjuster's estimate?

No. You can get your own estimates, and differences are often where the money is.

What is a public adjuster, and do I need a lawyer instead?

Public adjusters help present claims for a percentage. A lawyer can also advise on legal rights, bad faith and litigation. We can explain which fits your situation.

What is the deadline to sue my insurer?

Many policies contain a suit-limitation clause, and California law can extend or modify it in some situations. The timing is specific to your policy and loss, so get advice early.

What is bad faith?

An insurer's unreasonable failure to honor its obligations, such as denying, delaying or underpaying a valid claim without a proper basis.

How long do I have to file an injury lawsuit in California?

Generally two years from the injury, but claims against government entities can require an administrative claim within about six months, and other exceptions apply.

Should I talk to the other driver's insurance company?

It's usually best to speak with a lawyer before giving a recorded statement to another party's insurer.

What if I was partly at fault?

California's comparative fault rules may still allow you to recover, reduced by your share of responsibility.
